Motor Testing

A motor from the supply chain was tested for stall torque/current and no load speed/current at different voltages.

Torque curves

A linear curve fit was applied to the collected stall torque and current data. This was used to determine the expected characteristics of the motor.

Sprockets

A chain and sprocket system was chosen to reduce the speed and increase torque while still working with potentially sloppy tolerances.

Potentiometer Demo

The voltage from potentiometer attached to the shaft will be compared to reference potentiometer voltages, as shown in the video here.

PCB

A PCB was developed in EAGLE (schematic here) to control the motor using the angle from the potentiometer.

Mockup

Prototype parts were 3D printed and lasercut before machining the final metal components.

Final device

The final product meets the functional requirements.
